Abstract With the rising of creative economy, developing creative industry has been generally considered to be an effective measurement for urban regeneration by promoting industrial upgrade and spatial transformation. Creative industry in Wuhan has been classified into five sectors including creative design, information service, advertising, arts and media, creative consumption. Enterprises' locations of each sector on 2000,2005, 2010 and 2013 were collected from official website of Commerce and Industry Bureau and visualized on map by acquiring coordinate data from Google Earth. All spatial data was analyzed in various aspect with Arc GIS software of each study year, including analysis of location quotient, nearest neighbor index, kernel density and directional distribution. According to the study, evolutions characteristics of agglomeration of creative industries in Wuhan shows difference with characteristics of development period and sectors. Specifically, creative industry is clustering in Wuhan while its agglomeration scope is expanding and agglomeration center is outward moving from city center. Three function zones, core zone, developing zone and undeveloped zone, were identified by comparing the degree of development and specialization level of creative industry among districts, which shows the core force of creative industry in the city has centrifugal tendencies as well, meanwhile diversification level is increasing within each zone. Generally, productive sectors of creative industry are in higher development level with the agglomeration scope to expand outside the city as the main characteristics.
